Jesus is Better.

Jesus came into this broken world to save us from our sins and ourselves. He is better than we are and his work on our behalf is better than anything that we might do for ourselves. Not only does he save us from the punishment we deserve for our sin, but he also frees us from its enslaving grasp and empowers us to live a new kind of life. He is better than our pain, our joy, our comforts, our possessions, our hopes, our dreams, our fears. He is better.

"All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God" (2 Corinthians 5:18-21, ESV).

The Gospel is central.

His gospel is necessary for all people and all of life. The gospel is the good news of who Jesus is and what he has done. This good news is for everyone. It is for Christians and non-Christians alike. Tim Keller says "the gospel is not just the A-B-C’s but the A to Z of Christianity. The gospel is not just the minimum required doctrine necessary to enter the kingdom, but the way we make all progress in the kingdom." We firmly believe that we all continually need to hear the gospel. The same grace that has saved us is saving us and will save us.

"For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works" (Titus 2:11-14, ESV)
